Terms & Conditions – Clothing Repairs & Alterations
These Terms & Conditions apply to all clothing repair and alteration services provided by us. By leaving a garment with us, the customer agrees to the following terms.
1. Estimates, Not Quotes
1.1 All prices provided—verbally, by message, or written—are estimates only, based on an initial visual assessment.
1.2 Final costs may vary depending on the actual work required once the garment is unpicked, examined more closely, or if additional issues are discovered.
1.3 Customers will be notified if the final price is expected to exceed the estimate by more than 20% before work continues.
1.4 Estimates are not binding and do not constitute a fixed quote.
2. Assessment of Garments
2.1 A full assessment cannot be made until the garment is inspected in person.
2.2 Some issues (e.g., hidden damage, weakened fabric, previous repair attempts, deterioration) may only become visible during the repair or alteration process.
2.3 If a garment is not suitable for the requested work, we will advise the customer and discuss alternative options where possible.
3. Condition of Garments
3.1 All garments must be delivered clean. We reserve the right to refuse work on soiled, odorous, or stained items.
3.2 We accept no responsibility for damage caused by pre-existing weaknesses in fabric, seams, trims, or hardware.
4. Risk & Liability
4.1 Repairs and alterations are carried out with due professional care, but some garments may react unpredictably due to age, fabric type, construction, or previous wear.
4.2 Customers accept all risk associated with:
Working on delicate, fragile, vintage, or heavily worn garments
Alterations requiring significant structural changes
Unpicking original seams
4.3 Liability is limited to the cost of the service provided, not the value of the garment.
5. Fittings & Customer Measurements
5.1 Where fittings are required, the customer must attend as scheduled.
5.2 Alterations are based on the customer’s measurements and/or fitting notes at the time of assessment.
5.3 Weight changes, posture changes, or garment changes after fittings are not the responsibility of the business.
6. Turnaround Times
6.1 Timeframes given are estimates and may vary depending on workload, complexity, and supply availability.
6.2 Urgent jobs may incur an express fee.
7. Payments & Deposits
7.1 Payment is required at collection unless otherwise arranged.
7.2 A deposit may be required for complex or high-value work.
7.3 Garments will not be released until full payment is made.
8. Uncollected Garments
8.1 Garments not collected within 90 days of completion may incur storage fees.
8.2 After the 90 days period, uncollected garments may be donated, recycled, or discarded.
8.3 Reasonable attempts will be made to contact the customer before any disposal.
9. No Refunds on Labour
9.1 As all work is custom to the individual garment, labour charges are non-refundable.
9.2 If further adjustments are required, they will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Additional charges may apply.
10. Photos & Documentation
10.1 With customer permission, photos may be taken for work documentation or portfolio use.
10.2 No personal identifying details will be shared without explicit consent.
11. Customer Responsibility
11.1 Customers must provide accurate information about the garment and desired results.
12. Acceptance of Terms
12.1 By leaving a garment for repair or alteration, the customer agrees to all Terms & Conditions listed above.
